Learn More about Head and Neck Cancer

"I believe the ATLANTA HEAD AND NECK CANCER COALITION, INC provides Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons a unique opportunity and venue to provide an incredibly valuable service through its free cancer screenings at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. I would strongly encourage Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to come out and be part of our team and see how satisfying (and fun) their participation will be!"

Our Head and Neck Cancer Screening Event at Atlanta Motor Speedwayis a fun and rewarding way to give back to our community. Engaging with an at-risk population and providing our expertise is the key to helping fight head and neck cancer early. Volunteer and have great fun at NASCAR!

Fast, loud cars running in a circular track racing to where they started excite you? Me neither. How about looking into the mouths of some in the hopes of saving their lives. We are invariably nestled between exhibits designed to promote smokeless tobacco, cigarettes or
alcohol consumption and the mere visibility of our booth conveys the message that we careand choices have consequences. What better way to spend 2.5 hours once a year?

As a one year survivor of throat cancer, I am volunteering to help screen others for this terrible disease. As a lifelong singer and public speaker, I am now well aware of what 40 years of smoking can do. This is our chance as survivors to tell everyone our stories, to help in early detection and encourage prevention, including smoking cessation.

This is our opportunity to let our voices and messages be heard.

Kurt Froehlich

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and a caregiver for my husband who was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer. I have volunteered for the last two years in an effort to do everything in my power to encourage others to quit smoking and seek early detection for oral, head and neck cancer.
As a professional and as a wife, I have seen and experienced the dreadful effects of cancer and the pain and suffering involved.
Please join with us in the fight to help prevent and beat this disease.

I am not part of the medical community but I can’t tell you how much it means to be able to give back something for what these folks have done for me.  Helping save lives in ANY WAY is a rewarding experience.  I survived a war (the cancer war) and people need to know that the battle can be won.  Survivors need to be “seen” as they send a strong message.  Cancer scares people.  Join us in spreading the word to get checked.  Survivors are everywhere.

The race is a fight to the finish – a war to be won.  So is cancer!  There are more and more survivors who fought the fight and won.  People need to know that you don’t need to fear the fight.  Join us in helping other people overcome their fears and get checked by some of the best and caring doctors in the business.
You will be HELPING TO SAVE LIVES.

I AM A SURVIVOR!

Not so long ago I didn't know what it would feel like to say “I am a Survivor”. I can say that now because the same people here that want to help race fans, saved my life. So now I volunteer to try and help others promote the prevention and life style changes. These are the biggest messages to convey to at risk people. So now as part of my "pay it forward" I go to the race track and do my part and feel great about it. I ask, will you do your part?
